Here are some recommendation for preparing your ThinkPad for your trip:

Make a backup of your data.
By making regular backups of your data, you protect yourself from what ever challenges may come your way. Ultimately, your data is the most important part of the ThinkPad.

Password Management
Change your password before you leave campus. Your password will expire once every 6 months. Once this password expires, you will be locked out of your ThinkPad. We recommend that you change your password before leaving campus to give you the maximum amount of time before this expiration occurs.

TIP: Log into VPN when away from campus to change your password. NOTE: WFU houses in London, Venice and Vienna and the WFU Center in Salamanca utilize a VPN tunnel and do not require the VPN client for changing passwords.

Library Database Access
Use VPN on the ThinkPad to enable you to access campus resources while you are abroad including ZSR Library databases.

Security and Anti-Virus
We recommend you run an Ad-Aware and virus scan before leaving and on a regular basis while abroad. Be sure to clean off all threats on your computer prior to leaving campus.
