Technology in the Overseas Houses and Center in Salamanca
Internet Access
The Center in Salamanca and each Wake Forest House has wireless internet access. The wireless card in your ThinkPad will work at these overseas locations. The ISP's transfer speed is slower than the speed on the main campus. The overall speed of the Internet connection to the house/center is similar to the speed of a dialup connection. For these reasons, the student assistant will ask all students to disable file sharing applications while at the house/center.
Students attending the Center in Salamanca program also have access to University of Salamanca wireless network. You will need to setup a Usal-Web profile.
Printing
The houses have a network printer. A print driver must be added to the ThinkPad and the printer needs to be setup. The student assistant can install the required software so that you will be able to print over the wireless network connection. Unlike the main campus network, the house does not have a print server. This means that the printer will only be able to handle one or two documents at a time.
Multimedia
Casa Artom and Flow house have multimedia classrooms that work just as they do in the classrooms on campus. You will not need any special equipment to do in class presentations. |
